Evaluation:

Throughout this final project my goals I feel have been on par with what I planned on getting created throughout the three months we had total. Keeping on track with my Gannt chart with my research per week and the amount of modelling and texturing I would be doing, I made sure to keep up with my goals of getting the main models done because of wanting to achieve a high level for my work for University. From the first lesson I made a plan of what I was going to get done so I started with the easiest models to get them out of the way and proceeded to make the more time consuming models later on so that I could add enough detail to them, like the computer that I had made it didn't have lots of detail but it had enough to make me want to leave it to the middle of the months, I hadn't listed what models I was going to make and when but the order in which I did them I feel like I left myself plenty of time to be able to research and do blog updates weekly which was defiantly good to be able to do because leaving the blog updates to long means I won't be able to recall nearly enough information to write about it.

During my time in this final project I definitely improved my modelling skills, from the start of college I wasn't really sure on how to do a lot of things struggling to make simple objects but during this I have been able to make really ergonomic shapes for models, like speakers that are more rounded but because there Isn't a real shape that starts out similar, so I would have to start from a square and continuously drag out lines and vertices to get the right shape which was a really tedious task to do but after trial and error I was able to get that skill down really well and got the shape done much faster than I ever would have in the past which will also help in future working being able to make those kind of models. Another skill I learned was how to make a mesh for my computer with a really simple amount of work to make it happen needing to inverse my selection on the line tool and make a small gap between then and then just delete the middle selection, which was something I didn't know how to to properly but once I found out how to do that I immediately worked that into my model.

My idea came from what I have been doing in past pieces of work that being modelling a Kitchen, and a Living room so when it came to my final project and being able to chose something I wanted to do I thought I should continue the type of work I have been doing a model another room, which then led me to think about a real life reference piece from my bedroom which I would be able to take my own pictures for reference which defiantly means there would be no way to copy or plagiarise other peoples models from online which means I was able to make all of my work my own, being able to use the references I have meant I had a really good way to be able to model because not only would I have images I'd have memory of seeing them which was what really pushed me to chose my idea because of how well I would know the layout and model positions. I also had two other ideas that I though of to give myself a fair chance on what I would pick from, the first idea being an abandoned campsite in the middle of a forest and the other idea was an abandoned church ground, but they didn't interest me nearly as much as sticking to a theme for the last six months so I stuck with what I knew I could achieve.

When It came to doing research at the start of the project after I chose what I was going to be making I then immediately based my research of different things inside of a bedroom from the bed and the shape of the bed to chair designs and the types of textures I would be needing. I made all of my research into different mouldboards to be able to see all of if laid out properly so that I could see reference when making my models and so that anyone viewing the website could see the types of materials I had for my planning. I also did research throughout the whole project because I would need to watch videos to be able to see how to model specific objects or on how to use cloth material editor. Doing the research really helped me through the topic not being able to make models that were required was something that I was worried about but as soon as I searched for what I would need it made doing the final project much easier thankfully meaning I was able to not stress about making one model for too long so that I would be able to get all of my work done in a good amount of time with enough space for either further research or more model creation.

When it came to planning I wanted to make sure I did it really well so for the first week of the final project I decided to plan out the types of models I was going to be creation for the duration of the work, I started with planning out what the work was actually going to be going between three ideas I chose my final one and from there i then planned out the layout based on the fact that it was based of off my room and then I planned out a Gannt chart of what I was going to do and how long it would take me which was really helpful when it came to how long models would take me and how well I was going to be able to juggle between that and blog work which I feel I kept up with really well. When it came to planning for models I did lots of research and made sure to spread that out throughout the weeks to give me more of a chance to get it done and not having to rust it nearer to the end of the project which helped me keep on track overall. I feel like the planning I have done for this project was very thorough because I have now been able to finish off all of my main required models meaning the planning on my Gannt chart was good enough to be able to follow for almost three months, giving me work to do every lesson and not sitting there contemplating on what I could be doing next, I'd be able to just come in and log into my computer and do my modelling as soon as I've booted up.

One major problem I encountered was at the start of the project I wasn't very sure on how to texture effectively which I had to try and learn during the project, even though in the project it doesn't seem very textured but that's just because I'm using the colours that things are in my room which I referenced from, that and some of the models I struggled to model which is where I made sure to include my research to counter these problems. The problem was very easily countered due to sufficient planning and research which was I'm really glad I did the research really early, on otherwise this could have been more of a problem long term. Another major problem that I encountered was specific models I had very big struggle trying to remake the mouse that I had at home so I had to do some research to find a counter model to be able to use in it's place which was a normal office mouse, I would have loved to recreate a gaming mouse but that would have taken me way to long to be able to create due to the sophisticated and unnatural shapes on the mouse, which was a shame that I wasn't able to make the mouse properly but I didn't want to hinder my modelling progression over a model that's a lot smaller than all of the models.

Some of the feedback I received was the my research section on my website was rather detailed but there was a suggestion that I could be adding other bedroom layouts from games such as, Grand Theft Auto or Red Dead 2 which was some really helpful feedback giving me inspiration to what else I could be looking into for ideas for my own scene of what else I could add extra to the final scene also the feedback of needing to add textures to my SketchFab final render was rather helpful because I know It's going to be seen by quite a few people, and so getting the textures over would be extremely helpful for the viewing of my work. Feedback on model creation was very positive which felt good to know that I had spent a while making all of the models and that they were actually enjoyable to view instead of being told that they needed a lot of work or that they were awful models, although if I had been told that some of the models weren't very appealing that could be really helpful in the process of remaking or redesigning the models in the future which I feel is something positive being able to use possible feedback to change and get a better outcome. Another piece of feedback was to add some more lighting to the scene which I know I need to do but because of the time left on final project I decided against trying to get all of the lighting done efficiently inside of an unreal project, it's a shame that I wasn't able to quite get the whole thing done but being able to acknowledge that it's something that others want so with knowing this I would enjoy being able to set up efficient lighting in the future of this scene because I want to be able to apply my room I've made with some other scenes that I've made and eventually make a whole house.

Areas for improvement:

One area for improvement a highly believe would be my texturing because although I was follow a very basic model style and was using the colours my room have it's very block coloured and I think if I was to watch some texturing videos that I would be able to pick it up however due to the time I have left on this project I wont be able to make this improvement currently but I do plan on highly improving my texturing process and abilities for the future of my career. Another improvement I could make is adding models to the blank and barren areas inside of the room, having that empty space not being filled with shoes or other models makes the room seem so small despite the fact that all of the current models in the room is based on my real layout I can easily make this improvement by making sure to take some extra time from blog work to be able to fill up the remaining space before the project comes to an end.
